Breadbox Farm Rabbit Rescue

We believe that as breeders, it is our responsibility to use our vast rabbit knowledge to also help the rabbits in need in our community. We know that every living creature deserves compassion and gentle care. It is our mission to find these rabbits their place in the world, spread awareness about proper rabbit care, and to help others make good decisions for the rabbits in their lives.

The following rabbits are looking for a loving family. They have either been dropped off directly to us, rescued by one of our local shelters, or have been raised at a rabbitry but have special needs. They will need attentive care and patience as they grow to trust you and learn to love again.

Each rabbit is carefully monitored for health concerns and aggressive behaviors before being offered for adoption, but we cannot guarantee the temperaments of these rabbits like we can our own. We believe that there is a family out there for every rabbit, regardless of their hard past, different ability levels, or trust issues.

When you are ready to adopt a pet, please fill out an Adoption Application Form and Robin or Lisa will contact you if approved to set up an appointment time. To reserve a rabbit you will be required to pay in full.

Dakota | Holland Lop Female

$200

  • Sex: Female

    Age: Approx. 1.5 years

    Breed: Holland Lop

    Color: White with eye markings

    Previous Vet: none

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • Dakota arrived on 4/ 23/2026 and we are getting to know her.

She is quite confident on the couch and wants to explore. She is digging and nipping my lap quite a bit in anxiousness but it’s her first day! One ear tends to flop more than the other but tension can make them more upright. We’ll have to see how she holds them as she settles in. Her fur is super soft and silky. She is easy to pick up and doesn’t tense up so she is used to it.

  • 4/23/2026 Intake day. She is showing a lot of signs of nervousness so we are taking it slow and trying to help her transition.

Milo | Lop Male

$200

  • Sex: Male

Age: Two years, born March 2024

    Breed: Holland or Mini Lop

    Color: Harlequin

    Previous Vet: none

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • Milo arrived a few days ago so we are still getting to know him. He is quite easy to handle and was obviously well socialized. Overall he seems quite sweet and mild mannered. He did live with another male rabbit in his previous home and they got along okay (even without being neutered!) but had separate spaces.

I think he would do well in a variety of home situations but he should be neutered if going to live with another rabbit. I am working on fattening him up a bit and giving him a lot of exercise to build muscle mass along his spine and hips.

  • 4/21/2026 Milo arrived today and while doing his initial health check, I noticed he licks me while I rub his ears! He has some slight scarring in his ears, likely from fighting with another rabbit at some point in the past.

Edgar Allan Poe | Self Black Male | Mixed Breed | $400

  • Sex: Male (Neutered)

    Born: 2.5 years old

    Breed: Mixed

    Variety: Self Black

    Weight: 5lb 7oz

  • Once upon a midnight dreary, Mr. Poe arrived at Breadbox. He came to us with another rabbit, but had different plans for his life and they split up shortly after. He needs plenty of private reflection time so he can work on writing his goth poetry.

He now lives in a wooden hutch bachelor pad in the gardens of Breadbox. He expects you to feed him quickly and efficiently and will grunt at you if he sees you slacking on the job!

We feel comfortable saying that Mr. Poe could live indoors or outdoors. He will need someone with extreme patience to overcome his gruff exterior. He can be petted by the rare rabbit whisperer, but is very difficult to pick up and handle. We know this grumpy man has his perfect person out there somewhere!!

  • 4/23/2026 I have been working with Poe on building trust by hanging out at feeding time. I keep my hand in a loose first next to the bowl. He is getting used to me being near while eating. He will take greens from my hand, but won’t eat oats from it yet.

Peach | Self Black Female | Mixed Breed

$200

  • Sex: Female (Not Spayed)

    Born: 04/03/2025

    Breed: Mixed

    Variety: Self Black

  • Peach is shy and sensitive, but loves humans and can easily be won over with a handful of oats. She has a medium to high energy level and needs a lot of space to roam around. Currently she is living in a hutch in our gardens. She can be easily handled by an experienced rabbit person, but can be a little skiddish with someone who is new to rabbits.

She was born as a rescue at Breadbox to the lovely Annie. Peach was raised in our therapy program and participates in the cuddle events but is still quite shy of new people.

Peach would do well in a variety of home situations and is used to children but can get a little nippy around feeding time if she is hangry. She LOVES salad of any kind. She will take a dedicated adopter to build trust over time.

  • The team have been calling Peach “spicy” the past week, so I’m spending some extra time with her. I think she has cabin fever. I get it girl, me too. I’ll get her out for more time to run in the biggest pen. -Robin

Ways to Help our Breadbox Rescue Program

  1. Share. Spread the word about our available rabbits on social media. Find us @breadboxfarm. This helps more than you think!

  2. Donate your time. We are always happy to include new volunteers in cleaning cages, socializing shy rabbits, and feeding and watering the herd. Email us if you’d like to donate your time.

  3. Build. More cages and rabbit runs mean we can save more rabbits in a healthy, clean, and enriching environment! We currently need individuals willing to donate their time and carpentry skills building hutches and runs.

  4. Donate. The Breadbox Rescue Program is sustained on donations, community support, and A LOT of hard work and emotional moments behind the scenes. We try to keep a reserve of $400-600 at all times in our rescue fund for possible emergency health care costs. And we are currently saving to build 6 more hutches with a large attached play yard. 100% of your financial donation goes directly to providing for rescue rabbits. Our breeding program and all business related to it is a separate entity.
