Breadbox Farm Rabbit Rescue

We believe that as breeders, it is our responsibility to use our vast rabbit knowledge to also help the rabbits in need in our community. We know that every living creature deserves compassion and gentle care. It is our mission to find these rabbits their place in the world, spread awareness about proper rabbit care, and to help others make good decisions for the rabbits in their lives.

The following rabbits are looking for a loving family. They have either been dropped off directly to us, rescued by one of our local shelters, or have been raised at a rabbitry but have special needs. They will need attentive care and patience as they grow to trust you and learn to love again.

Each rabbit is carefully monitored for health concerns and aggressive behaviors before being offered for adoption, but we cannot guarantee the temperaments of these rabbits like we can our own. We believe that there is a family out there for every rabbit, regardless of their hard past, different ability levels, or trust issues.

When you are ready to adopt a pet, please fill out an Adoption Application Form and Robin or Lisa will contact you if approved to set up an appointment time. To reserve a rabbit you will be required to pay in full.

Naomi & Bob | Female and Male Netherland Dwarf Bonded Pair

$600

  • Sex: Female & Male (male neutered & female spayed)

    Age:

    Breed: Netherland Dwarfs

Size: Smaller than a house cat

Color: Naomi- Broken Black Otter, Bob- Black Otter

    Previous Vet: unknown

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • We are getting to know this adorable couple.

  • 5/21/26 Gave Bob a bit of socialization time this afternoon. While both he and Naomi were understandably apprehensive to the possibility of being picked up, Bob eventually let me take him and was very calm in my hands. On the couch he was okay just fidgeting on my lap for moment, but hopped off after a minute or two to explore. He spent the rest of the session taking a gentle stroll around the cushions. Good job, Bob 🩵

6/4/26 Brought Bob out during an event this weekend and he did pretty well! Though after a big of cuddles he got a bit tired and asked to be put back, but I’m still proud of his progress.

6/18 Both were a bit shy but loved running around outside in a pen, despite the heat. They are an adorable pair!

Lily & Ira | Female and Male Mini Lop Bonded Pair

$400

  • Sex: Female (not fixed) & Male (male neutered)

    Age: 5 years

    Breed: Mini Lops

Size: About the size of a house cat

Color: Lily - Cream and white, Ira - Tri color

    Previous Vet: unknown

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • Lily and Ira are mini lops that are super bonded. They have lived most of their life outside in a garden enclosure around many other animals. Originally their family thought they were both female so Ira was Iris, but when they found out that he was a boy he became Ira instead. They were able to get Ira neutered but Lily has not been spayed.

Over the past couple weeks I have observed them becoming much more comfortable in out space. Lily is slower to trust and very protective of Ira. Ira will melt right into you and is very docile. Lily likes to give little growls when she is unhappy about something, but has never bitten us, she’s just vocal. We did’t receive vet records for these two but we have not observed any outstanding issues. Please remember that rescues who are older may need more vet support and can be a larger financial commitment.

These rabbits may do better outdoors in a garden space or have a bit of time to transition if they are brought into a home. They were very scared in our house at first. They do dig though! You must have a secure space that they will not dig out of, if homing them on the ground. They need at least a 5 ft hutch/cage/space at a minimum as they are medium sized and there are two of them. They would do well with a bit of room to exercise. All rabbits need to do zoomies and binkies!

If you are a sucker for two loafs with floppy ears, this pair might be for you!

  • 5/16/26 Both Ira and Lily were taken out during our event today and did amazing! While Lily was a bit more reserved and got a bit anxious, needing to get put back a bit later, Ira was a huge lap potato. He sat there calmly for 20 minutes while receiving pets. Both were great being picked up and put back, despite their considerable sizes 😂

6/4/26 Ira and Lily have become quite the Bunny Cuddle Event spectacles. People love looking at how bug they are. Ira was held many times and did awesome with a variety of ages, from young children to adults. Surprisingly, Lily also did awesome and was content on someone’s lap for most of the event. She loved getting her ears rubbed.

Dakota | Holland Lop Female

$200

  • Sex: Female

    Age: Approx. 1.5 years

    Breed: Holland Lop

    Color: White with eye markings

    Previous Vet: none

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • Dakota is quite confident and wants to explore. One ear tends to flop more than the other. Her fur is super soft and silky.

She is moderately easy to pick up for someone who is experienced. She is medium energy level and can be jumpy when nervous, but never aggressive with lunging or biting.

  • 4/23/2026 Intake day. She is showing a lot of signs of nervousness so we are taking it slow and trying to help her transition.

5/7/26 I grabbed Dakota for a short cuddle session and she did well when being taken out of her cage. On the couch she wasn’t super content to sit on my lap quietly and instead enjoyed exploring the smells of all the cushions, but made no move to jump off. She was an adorable girl though, and would often come over to say hi and give me a sniff. - Lucy

6/18 I brought Dakota out recently for some cuddles with some younger kids. Although she had all sorts of excited energy around her, she was very patient and let them pet her thoroughly before I knew she wanted to be put back.

Edgar Allan Poe | Self Black Male | Mixed Breed | $400

  • Sex: Male (Neutered)

    Born: 2.5 years old

    Breed: Mixed

Size: About the size of a house cat

    Variety: Self Black

    Weight: 5lb 7oz

  • Once upon a midnight dreary, Mr. Poe arrived at Breadbox. He came to us with another rabbit, but had different plans for his life and they split up shortly after. He needs plenty of private reflection time so he can work on writing his goth poetry.

He now lives in a wooden hutch bachelor pad in the gardens of Breadbox. He expects you to feed him quickly and efficiently and will grunt at you if he sees you slacking on the job!

We feel comfortable saying that Mr. Poe could live indoors or outdoors. He will need someone with extreme patience to overcome his gruff exterior. He can be petted by the rare rabbit whisperer, but is very difficult to pick up and handle. We know this grumpy man has his perfect person out there somewhere!!

  • 4/23/2026 I have been working with Poe on building trust by hanging out at feeding time. I keep my hand in a loose first next to the bowl. He is getting used to me being near while eating. He will take greens from my hand, but won’t eat oats from it yet.

Peach | Self Black Female | Mixed Breed

$200

  • Sex: Female (Not Spayed)

    Born: 04/03/2025

    Breed: Mixed

Size: Slightly smaller than a house cat

    Variety: Self Black

  • Peach is shy and sensitive, but loves humans and can easily be won over with a handful of oats. She has a medium to high energy level and needs a lot of space to roam around. Currently she is living in a hutch in our gardens. She can be easily handled by an experienced rabbit person, but can be a little skiddish with someone who is new to rabbits.

She was born as a rescue at Breadbox to the lovely Annie. Peach was raised in our therapy program and participates in the cuddle events but is still quite shy of new people.

Peach would do well in a variety of home situations and is used to children but can get a little nippy around feeding time if she is hangry. She LOVES salad of any kind. She will take a dedicated adopter to build trust over time.

  • The team have been calling Peach “spicy” the past week, so I’m spending some extra time with her. I think she has cabin fever. I get it girl, me too. I’ll get her out for more time to run in the biggest pen. -Robin

5/21/26 She has been enjoying her escape recently and living it up as a garden rabbit! It is always fun when walking around and seeing a little black bunny hopping around. The real workout is catching her though…

6/4/26 She really seems to be embracing the garden life! I’ve seen her running around the foliage looking more happy than she usually does.

*RESERVED For Beau* Milo | Lop Male

$200

  • Sex: Male

Age: Two years, born March 2024

    Breed: Holland or Mini Lop

Size: Smaller than a house cat

    Color: Harlequin

    Previous Vet: unknown

    Outstanding Health Issues Observed: none

  • Milo arrived a few days ago so we are still getting to know him. He is quite easy to handle and was obviously well socialized. Overall he seems quite sweet and mild mannered. He did live with another male rabbit in his previous home and they got along okay (even without being neutered!) but had separate spaces.

I think he would do well in a variety of home situations but he should be neutered if going to live with another rabbit. I am working on fattening him up a bit and giving him a lot of exercise to build muscle mass along his spine and hips.

  • 4/21/2026 Milo arrived today and while doing his initial health check, I noticed he licks me while I rub his ears! He has some slight scarring in his ears, likely from fighting with another rabbit at some point in the past.

5/7/26 Milo recently had lots of grooming done to remove the mats on his legs and stomach. He did wonderful during the process and feels and looks much better now. When picked up today he did very well, enjoying wandering around the couch. So much so, that he was a bit resistant to being put back!

5/21/26 Today he was taken out for some footage for his video, and did great the whole time. He was very easy to pick up and carry, and, of course, loved his ear rubs. I can tell he’s coming out of his shell a lot!

Ways to Help our Breadbox Rescue Program

  1. Share. Spread the word about our available rabbits on social media. Find us @breadboxfarm. This helps more than you think!

  2. Donate your time. We are always happy to include new volunteers in cleaning cages, socializing shy rabbits, and feeding and watering the herd. Email us if you’d like to donate your time.

  3. Build. More cages and rabbit runs mean we can save more rabbits in a healthy, clean, and enriching environment! We currently need individuals willing to donate their time and carpentry skills building hutches and runs.

  4. Donate. The Breadbox Rescue Program is sustained on donations, community support, and A LOT of hard work and emotional moments behind the scenes. We try to keep a reserve of $400-600 at all times in our rescue fund for possible emergency health care costs. And we are currently saving to build 6 more hutches with a large attached play yard. 100% of your financial donation goes directly to providing for rescue rabbits. Our breeding program and all business related to it is a separate entity.
